Silver Championship results - 2026

An excellent 3 days at Arcot Hall

This years' Championships took place last week with qualifying on 6th May. A bright but chilly morning greeted the 50 competitors. A great turnout and lovely to welcome many new faces to our Championship.

This year we introduced a second flight to the matchplay to hopefully encourage ladies to enter and for more ladies to be involved in the matchplay stages of the event. I'm pleased to say this seemed a very successful addition to the Championship.

The final of the 2nd Flight followed the Championship semi-final and was a very closely fought contest with Paula Shaw of Alnmouth GC defeating Carolyn Coxon of Hexham GC on the 17th and therefore winning the inaugural Linda Hoyle Streets Vase. Well done Paula!

There were some very close matches in all rounds with one match going as far as the 23rd hole.
The final was watched by a great crowd of supporters and we were treated to some outstanding golf by both Claire Brown and Susan Lam with Susan eventually becoming our Champion for the 2nd time to retain her title. Many congratulations Susan!

My thanks go to the Committee for all their hard work over the 3 days; to Arcot Hall Golf Club for all their help in hosting this event; the bar staff and catering staff for keeping us all fed and watered but special mention must go to Geoff Hedley and his green keeping staff for presenting the course in outstanding condition.

At the end of proceedings I was delighted to announce our Northumberland team for our matches against the other Northern Counties. Our team in alphabetical order is as follows: Candy Brown, Claire Brown, Lynne Cademy Taylor, Helen Cooper, Linda Hoyle Streets, Susan Lam, Lynne Liddle, June Lomax and Helen McChlery.

Here's hoping for a successful year ahead and for the forthcoming Richardson Trophy Matches where it would be great to see our members coming to watch and support our team.
